CARMT 2014 Research Grant

Our research team is pleased to be the recipient of the 2014 Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists’ Research Grant Program for our ongoing research project, tentatively titled, “Dose optimization in direct digital radiography: A study of practitioners’ assessments of image quality and their perceptions”.

The importance of regularly investigating dose optimization strategies for general radiographic exams is critical in order to ensurepractitioners are delivering a dose, as low as reasonably achievable, to patients (Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists, 2012).
The data collection phase of the project has just been completed with approximately 100 practitioners participating in eight clinical sites in southwestern Ontario.

Funding provided by the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists’ Research Grant Program supports the completion of the research project and findings will be disseminated to radiography practitioners and educators across Canada.
