Why radiology? Our specialty is the perfect combination of cutting edge technology and human/patient application. Our field redefines itself and completely changes medical practice every decade, and no other specialty has such a rapidly evolving practice.
Why Western? Western is the top centre for basic science medical imaging research in Canada including the first 7T MRI and PET/MRI in Canada. Plus, despite being in a city of over 300,000 with a medical catchment area of over 1.4 million, it is one of the cheapest cities to live in of all residency programs.
Most interesting job before residency: I was the computer lab monitor for North Carolina football team's computer lab. Got to meet and help out Julius Peppers, among other current NFL'ers.
Favorite Book: Haven't read any interesting books recently, but probably Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt
Favorite Movie: Tie between Rudy and Shawshank Redemption
Favorite Band/Musician/Composer: Not sure. Don't really follow specific bands/artists too much
Hobbies: As a former rugby player, I am now an avid follower of the sport and I help coach a high school team. Other hobbies: enjoying my wife's amazing cooking.
Favourite Quote: "For he today that sheds his blood with me, shall be my brother" - Shakespeare, Henry V
