Welcome to the intra-faculty Global Health Systems Program at Western University. Global Health Systems at Western is comprised of two streams of enrollment. We offer a 12-month Collaborative Graduate Program option for Masters and PhD Students enrolled in a thesis or course based program with any one of our nine partnering departments across campus.

Overall, Global Health Systems focuses on international health, particularly in marginalized populations. Due to the many strong, successful, and ongoing research and professional partnerships that Western faculty have established with African Institutions that investigate the extensive and life-threatening issues facing the African continent, we chose to focus on Africa but to also draw connections to all areas of the world, in consideration of broader Global Health issues. Throughout the duration of their involvement in our program, students will have opportunities to discuss and propose solutions to issues in Global Health Systems in African and other low to middle income countries, while gaining the knowledge and skills to become leaders in this growing and dynamic field.

Program graduates have distinguished themselves in a number of health-related careers with national, provincial, and regional government agencies, multinational research firms, and a host of public and private health care agencies. Many of our graduates also gained enriching experiences from their African project placement to complement their professional education in areas like, but not limited to medicine and dentistry. Advocates for a healthier future, graduates are well positioned to assume or fast track toward leadership positions in major government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and the health care system both locally and internationally.
