Short Bio

Dr. Ajay Sharma is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Western Ontario, in London, Ontario, Canada. He also serves as a staff nephrologist at London Health Sciences Center. He is a Scientist at Children’s Health Research Institute and Lawson Health Research Institute in London, Ontario, Canada.

His fellowships and memberships underscore Dr. Sharma's standing in the medical community. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC), a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology (FASN), a Fellow of the American Hypertension Association (FAHA), and a member of the International Society of Nephrology Regional Board. These recognitions underscore his professional standing and the respect he commands in the medical community.

Dr. Sharma, an active clinician, teacher, and researcher, is a pioneer in his specific areas of research interest. He has contributed immensely to the field of pediatric hypertension, specifically to the strategies to diagnose hypertension correctly. He has secured major grants to further this research. His other core research focuses on hemolytic uremic syndrome, peritoneal dialysis, nephrotic syndrome, and kidney function measurement. Dr. Sharma's significant contributions to these fields, evidenced by his numerous research papers, have significantly advanced the understanding of these specialized areas. Dr. Sharma has authored important chapters on Peritoneal Dialysis in the Textbook of Nephrology, edited by Brenner and Rector, and on Measurement of Blood Pressure in the Textbook on Pediatric Hypertension, edited by Flynn, Ingelfinger, and Redwine.

Dr. Sharma's influence extends beyond his academic and research roles. He is a trusted leader who shoulders significant administrative responsibilities. He serves as the Head of the Division of Pediatric Nephrology and the Residency Program Lead for the Nephrology Division in the Department of Pediatrics at Western University and London Health Sciences Center.
