Announcement: Faculty Promotions
We are delighted to announce that Dr. Yun-Hee Choi and Dr. Piotr Wilk have been promoted to the rank of Professor, effective July 1.
This achievement reflects their exceptional contributions to research, teaching, and service within the department and beyond. Please join us in congratulating them on this well-deserved recognition!
Dr. Yun-Hee Choi, PhD
Dr. Choi earned her PhD in Statistics from the University of Waterloo and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. Her research focuses on the development and evaluation of statistical methods for analyzing diverse event types, including survival and longitudinal outcomes, as well as risk prediction using correlated data from families with high genetic risk. She has been a faculty member at Western University since 2008.
Dr. Piotr Wilk, PhD
Dr. Wilk’s research focuses on healthy ageing and chronic disease surveillance. He is interested in the links between social determinants of health, health-related modifiable behaviours, and health outcomes at the local, national, and international levels. His current research explores the contribution of socioeconomic, behavioural, and environmental risk factors to onset and development of chronic disease, using linked survey, administrative, and environmental datasets. Dr. Wilk’s primary appointment is in the Departments of Epidemiology and Biostatistics & Paediatrics at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry. He is also an Adjunct Scientist at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences, and a visiting Professor at the Department of Epidemiology, Jagiellonian University, Poland, and Maastricht University, the Netherlands.
