Prescription for fun

It was the second year the Prescription for Fun Award provided funding for a class event designed to foster class cohesion through a healthy and fun respite from the demands of academic life. The award is supported by Dr. David Wonham and it is intended to support mental health and wellness for students at the Schulich Medicine — Windsor Campus.

Melissa Cowell, Michael Cameron, Aaron Wang, Connor Pepper and Aleksa Zubic, Medicine Class of 2020, were successful in receiving the Prescription for Fun Award for their class, and were able to host an indoor carnival night at the Walkerville Brewery.

The carnival night provided participants with the opportunity to play Nintendo Switch, watch the Maple Leaf’s on big screen and sing karaoke. This year’s event also featured a comedy roast where classmates poked fun at each other. The evening concluded with the Med Hot Chili Peppers taking the stage to play a short set of the class favourites.

“Students from each class came out – making for an exciting and engaging atmosphere for everyone,” said Zubic. “We are very grateful that Dr. Wodham continues to support this amazing initiative – yet another thing that makes this campus feel like home," she added.
