Changes to upcoming student reading weeks

On April 12th, 2019, Western’s Senate agreed that “effective September 1st, 2019 a Fall Reading Week will be scheduled to begin on the 3rd Monday after Thanksgiving and end at midnight on the subsequent Sunday.” As a result, the Senate has also approved a new structure of the Academic year so that each term will be twelve weeks in length, comprising of at least 60 “lecture days.”

It is anticipated that a further policy amendment will be presented to the Senate to address the Hours of Instruction for Undergraduate Courses Policy relating to contact hours.

Recognizing that many academic colleagues are currently planning their upcoming undergraduate curriculum, please disseminate this information to your faculty colleagues and administration.
