Bio Sketch

Dr. Ng received his MD from the University of Toronto in 1990. He continued his education at the same institution to complete a neurosurgery residency in 2000 and a spinal instrumentation fellowship in 2001. During his residency, he received his PhD degree in Axonal Regeneration After Mammalian Spinal Cord Injury. He joined the Department in 2001.

Dr. Ng is currently Associate Professor in Neurosurgery and Western University having joined CNS in 2001 and works closely with the spine group. He is heavily involved in Medical Education at all levels, from teaching fellows, residents, medical students, to high school and primary school students.  He was the Co-manager of the Neuroscience Curriculum at Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, responsible for the redevelopment of the Neuroscience Curriculum in Undergraduate Medical Education. He is the Chapter Director of London's Think First Program, an international society that promotes head injury prevention among children.


Research

Dr. Ng has done extensive research in the area of spinal cord injury focusing on how to promote recovery and regeneration after spinal cord injuries. He is currently interested in medical education of undergraduates and post-graduate students and is undergoing projects related to the practice of Neurosurgery and the public perception and professionalism of neurosurgical issues. He is also involved extensively in devising guidelines in hospital resource utilization and developing strategies in the delivery of quality care in Neurosurgery.
