Senior Scientist Lorelei Lingard, PhD, was named an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in June, 2020, making her one of a select group of non-physicians to ever receive this designation. She joins such luminaries as Louise Arbour, David Johnston, Michaëlle Jean, Adrienne Clarkson, and Stephen Lewis in achieving this recognition. A former recipient of the Karolinska Award – medical education research’s most prestigious international prize – Dr. Lingard also received the Harmen Tiddens Medal in 2020. This international award, given by Utrecht University, recognizes career contributions to Health Professions Education.

CERI Director Dr. Chris Watling received Schulich Medicine & Dentistry’s highest award for education, the Schulich Excellence in Education Distinguished Leader Award in May 2020. He was also named a Western University Faculty Scholar for 2020-2022. His paper “Assessment, feedback, and the alchemy of learning” was recognized with a “Top Cited Article” designation from Medical Education for 2019-2020.

Grants Awarded

In 2020, our six core scientists were principal or co-investigators on grants that total $1,971,134.00.  In addition, Dr. Javeed Sukhera is a collaborator on a $3 million CIHR grant dedicated to pediatric mental health and addictions care.
