Steering Committee Accomplishments 

2019-2020

  • Bringing stakeholders together from the wider PGME-CBME community for the first time including Program Directors, CBME Departmental and Divisional Leads, the Program Administrator Executives, the Resident Advisory Committee for CBME, the Centre for Education Research and Innovation (CERI), and Schulich Information Services (IS)
  • Clarification from the Royal College about the conduct of hybrid programs and ramifications for off-cycle residents 
  • The creation of the Reports Portal in Elentra, a Schulich initiative from IS, along with the ability to access resident EPA summary reports and faculty assessor statistics, the latter of which was presented to the Clinical Chairs 
  • Expanded features of Elentra including the ability for external assessors outside of Western to complete EPA forms, residents to be able to push EPA forms for other residents, and auto-expiry of EPAs 
  • The addidion of Google Chrome on hospital computers to facilitate the use of Elentra 
  • The creation of a central repository of shared data in a Microsoft Team for Western CBME programs

 

2020-2021

  • The creation of several new Elentra features, including the Competence Committee Dashboard, increrased functionality of the faculty assessor reports, and suggestions for helper text in narrative comment boxes in assessment forms
  • Advising on the content, utility, and metrics in the new Quarterly EPA reports 
  • Ensuring collaboration and acknowledgement of challenges and questions raised by the Resident Advisory Committee for CBME 
  • Leading the discussion on the approach, process, and procedures for Competence Committees in determining the various resident statuses of progression
  • Advocating for the needs of distributed faculty outside of London
  • Sharing of innovations that local programs have done in the past year 

 

2021-2022

  • Advising on the impact and frequency of revising entrustable professional activities (EPAs) by Royal College specialties and subspecialties. 
  • Feedback towards the creation of an online module for resident orientation to CBME. 
  • Ensuring collaboration and acknowledgement of challenges and questions raised by the Resident Advisory Committee for CBME (RAC-CBME). 
  • Development of an understanding and approach towards 'Progress is Accelerated' and 'Failure to Progress' resident statuses that are new with Competence by Design (CBD). 
  • Continued feedback on the Competence Committee dashboard in Elentra. 
  • Participation in "Supporting Competence Committees on Their Own Path to Competence: Theory vs. Reality". 
  • Discussions and directions provided on the utility of milestones.
