New Academic Search Interface - Omni

As has been advertised on the library website and through our library catalogue for several weeks, Western Libraries will go-live with the new academic search interface, Omni on December 10.  We are very excited about the potential for providing enhanced services through this platform.  For example, in the coming year faculty and students will be able to seamlessly request print material from any one of our 13 Ontario Omni partner institutions for delivery to Western Libraries.  The new interface also provides a cleaner, more modern look and feel, and includes several options that will enhance searching and browsing for serendipitous digital discovery across our entire collection.

  1. Service Interruptions

From Dec. 2-9 there will be several service interruptions while we bring Omni online. A full list of these interruptions can be viewed on the library website.

  1. Request Items

Of particular note for our faculty researchers, Requesting Items from storage will be temporarily unavailable from December 2-9. Rest assured this feature will return when Omni launches December 10.

  1. My Library Account

If you are a regular user of the My Library Account Feature, please note that Saved Searches and My Lists will no longer be available after December 9.  Review these instructions for saving this information prior to December 9.

Reading History may be exported until May 31. Instructions on how to export your Reading History will be provided on the library website the morning of December 6 and access to your old data will be available until May 31, 2020.

During our transition, you may have noticed links to electronic resources have been less reliable than usual. I am pleased to share that with our launch, most linking issues should be corrected. If you continue to find broken links please report them via for assistance. Staff are ready and happy to help.
