Dr. Francisco Olea Popelka and One Health on the local, national and international stage

Dr. Francisco Olea Popelka, Beryl Ivey Endowed Chair in One Health, and his team of collaborators, are bringing One Health to the local, national and international stage. Highlights include a plenary session at the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, participation on the Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR) First Consultation on One Health, and One Health Research Day on November 3, 2021.
Internationally
- International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, Global Conference in Lung Health. October 2021. This is the world’s largest conference on lung health.
Role: Plenary Speaker - University Autonomous of Baja California (UABC), U.S.-Mexico Border Health Commission, Second Virtual International Forum on Tuberculosis. October-December 2021.
Role: Guest Speaker - Global Fund Consultation on One Health, which resulted in the One Health input paper for the Global Fund strategy development by the Germany Constituency. April 2021.
Role: Informal Advisor - The 5th Edition of the “Essential tuberculosis” book, published in August 2021, for the first time, contains a chapter on One Health and Zoonotic Tuberculosis, authored by Francisco Olea Popelka, Dr Paula I. Fujiwara from the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease and Dr. Anna Dean from WHO.
