PaLM at 10000/Day Test Capacity

Approximately one year ago, the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine began its pandemic response with capacity to test 300 samples daily for what was then referred to as Novel Coronavirus. One year later, following the rebuild of the lab, new equipment, and extensive recruitment, training, and optimization, PaLM now has daily capacity for 10,000 COVID-19 tests. To date, PaLM has completed over 600,000 tests - the equivalent to 20 typical years of virology testing. This is a tremendous achievement to the benefit of our entire region. Combined with the capacity of Public Health Ontario’s London lab, there is sufficient capacity to meet all hospital, long-term care, and community outbreak testing needs.
