Dr. David Driman appointed Chair/Chief of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

Dr. Driman is a Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine with a cross appointment in the Department of Surgery at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry. He also holds the role of Director of Education for the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, a role he has held since 2011. Dr. Driman’s main areas of clinical activity are in gastrointestinal, liver an pancreatic pathology.

Dr. David Driman obtained his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Cape Town in South Africa. He then completed his residency in Anatomical Pathology at Queen’s University and the University of Toronto. Afterwards, he completed his fellowship in Gastrointestinal Pathology at McMaster University.

Since 2012, Dr. Driman has been the Regional Pathology Lead with Cancer Care Ontario. Additionally, he has served as the Director of the Anatomical Pathology Residency Program at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry and the Chair of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Examination Board in Anatomical Pathology.

Dr. Driman has received numerous awards, including Schulich Medicine & Dentistry’s Postgraduate Award of Excellence in Education; the Canadian Association of Pathologists Leadership in Education Award; and the ME Kirk Annual Teaching Award for Excellence in Pathology Resident Education.
