Undergraduate Student Awards

Awards to our top undergraduate students this year were: 

Gold Medals:  Honors Specialization & Specialization Modules 

Awarded by the University Board of Governors for the highest standing in an Honors Specialization or Specialization module, with a minimum average of eighty percent. 

  • Darya Abdolmaleki (Pathology) – Supervisor - Dr. Zia Khan
  • Renata Gabriela Ceccacci (Microbiology/Immunology & Pathology) – Supervisors: Drs. Jamie Mann and Eric Arts
  • Brandon Yang Lieng (Medical Health Informatics) – Supervisor: Dr. Greg Gloor (Biochemistry)

Honors Major Modules

Awarded by the University Board of Governors for the highest standing in the Major in an Honors Double Major degree, with a minimum average of eighty percent.  In addition, recipients of Gold Medals in Honors Specialization and Major modules must attain a modular average within the top 10% of students graduating from the department.

  • Kevin Kaiwen Liu (Pathology)

Professor Colin Anderson Award in Pathology

Awarded annually to a full-time undergraduate student in an Honors Specialization in Pathology, who achieves outstanding performance in Pathology 4980E.

  • Nicole Stachura (Pathology) - Supervisor: Dr. Tim Renault (Physiology)

D.M.S. Haines Gold Medal and Book Prize 

Awarded annually to an outstanding student graduating with the highest average from the Honors Specialization in Biochemistry and Pathology of Human Disease.

  • Muhammad Uzair Khalid (Biochemistry & Pathology) – Supervisor: Dr. Madhulika Gupta (Biochemistry)

Congratulations have been sent to each student.  Because Convocation will not be happening, BMSc is creating a summary document that will be posted to celebrate the accomplishments of all gold medal and named award recipients.
