Welcome Ben Hedley

Dr. Ben Hedley joined Pathology and Laboratory Medicine as a Hematology Scientist on July 19, 2019.

Dr. Hedley holds an MEng in Chemical Engineering and Chemical Technology from Imperial College, London, a PhD in Medical Biophysics from Western University, and is a Specialist in Cytometry, SCYM(ASCP). His previous administrative/leadership roles include counsellor for International Clinical Cytometry Society, section lead for CLSI H62: validation of Assays Performed by Flow Cytometry, and is a reviewer for numerous scientific journals. Dr. Hedley has published more than 25 peer-reviewed publications and his work has been cited more than 1,100 times.

Dr. Hedley will be working with other members of PaLM to ensure the delivery of high quality hematologic testing for our patients and regional laboratories. He will have scientific responsibility for Flow Cytometry and work with the Biochemists and Hematologists assisting in hematology and coagulation aspects of the Core Laboratory and hemostasis and thrombosis. In addition, he will continue Flow Cytometry’s leading role in translational research in these areas, while supporting research initiatives of other investigators.
