Dr. Kambiz Norozi is a Professor in the Department of Paediatrics at Western University and former Head of the Division of Paediatric Cardiology at the London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC), a role he held from 2013 to 2024. He is a Scientist at both the Children’s Health Research Institute (CHRI) and the Lawson Health Research Institute, where he served on the CHRI Operations Committee for a decade. A dedicated academic leader, Dr. Norozi is also the Lead Mentor for the Department of Paediatrics and a member of Western University’s Clinician Investigator Program (CIP), supporting the development of emerging clinician-scientists.

Originally from Persia, Dr. Norozi moved to Germany as an adolescent, where he completed his medical education and training in Paediatrics and Paediatric Cardiology, as well as the equivalent of a PhD at Hannover Medical School (MHH). He holds cross-appointments as Professor in the Division of Cardiology at LHSC and Associate Professor of Paediatric Cardiology at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto.

Dr. Norozi’s research bridges clinical and experimental cardiology, focusing on congenital heart disease and the cardiovascular effects of obesity in children and adolescents. His work aims to identify and quantify risk factors for cardiovascular dysfunction in pediatric obesity and following cardiac surgery. He has received numerous local, provincial, national, and international research grants to support these investigations. Clinically, he is deeply involved in preventive cardiology, managing familial and acquired lipid disorders in children and youth.

From 2003 to 2005, Dr. Norozi served as Lead Coordinator of a bi-centre clinical research project between Hannover Medical School and the University of Göttingen, investigating outcomes in adolescents and adults with congenital heart disease (ACHD). Building on this foundation, he later served as Principal Investigator for the follow-up study (2017–2019). Before relocating to Canada in 2008, he worked as a Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist at the Children’s Hospital of MHH and as a Research Fellow in the Cardiovascular Development Research Laboratory. His translational work now extends to imaging and developmental studies of cardiac function in Xenopus embryos, in collaboration with CHRI scientists.

A passionate advocate for lifelong cardiac care, Dr. Norozi established a transition program in London, Ontario, to ensure continuity of care for adolescents and young adults with congenital heart disease as they move into adult healthcare systems. His leadership reflects a deep commitment to patient-centered care, mentorship, and academic excellence.

Dr. Norozi has authored or co-authored more than 100 scientific publications in leading international medical journals, including The New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American Heart Association, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and Canadian Journal of Cardiology. He serves on the Editorial Boards of the World Journal of Cardiology, BioMed Research International, and the Journal of Advances in Medicine, and is a frequent reviewer for top-tier journals such as Circulation, American Journal of Cardiology, and European Heart Journal.

Through his scholarship, mentorship, and leadership, Dr. Norozi continues to advance paediatric cardiovascular medicine—shaping clinical practice, inspiring young investigators, and improving lifelong heart health for children and youth.
