Dr. Jennifer McLean

Dr Jennifer McLean is Associate Professor of Paediatrics, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University and Professional Practice Lead for Paediatrics at the Child & Parent Resource Institute, London. She received her MD from McMaster University and was Medical Director of the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre, Chief of Service in Developmental Paediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, and Associate Professor of Paediatrics at Dalhousie University before moving to London in 2011.

Dr McLean is recognized as a Founder of the specialty of Developmental Paediatrics by the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada, of which she is a long-time member of the Specialty Committee in Developmental Paediatrics, and is a former President of the Canadian Paediatric Society’s Section on Developmental Paediatrics. She is an enthusiastic teacher of developmental paediatrics to all levels of learners and has been involved in interdisciplinary research on the needs of medically fragile children, to whose care she remains committed, in addition to assessment of children for Autism Spectrum Disorder. She also does developmental paediatric assessment clinics and is a member of the Neuromuscular Team at Thames Valley Children’s Centre. She is the current Supervisor of the Developmental Paediatrics International Clinical Fellowship Program.

Outside of her daily work, Dr McLean has been an active volunteer for many organizations, including as a Board member of Crossroads Children’s Centres, Ottawa, Garderie OASIS Child Care Centre, Ottawa, Progress Centre for Early Intervention, Halifax, and the Sunshine Foundation of Canada. She is currently an active member of the Steering Committee of PONDA (Physicians of Ontario Neuro-Developmental Advocacy.)
