Dr. Robin Mackin is a General Paediatrician in the Division of Paediatric Hospital Medicine and an Assistant Professor at Western University. She also serves as the Assistant Dean (UME) within the Learner Experience Office.
Dr. Mackin completed her medical degree at the University of Ottawa and her Paediatrics residency at McMaster University. She holds a Clinician Educator diploma from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and a Master of Health Professions Education from Maastricht University.
As a clinician educator, Dr. Mackin is committed to supporting learners as they navigate their medical education journey and strive toward their personal and professional goals. She currently leads the UME Coaching Program and the PGME Paediatrics Coaching Program, with scholarly interests focused on coaching and learner mindset.
Dr. Mackin is also passionate about distributed medical education. She co-chairs the Department of Paediatrics Rural and Remote Committee, a role inspired by her experiences locuming in remote regions of Canada. Through this work, she advocates for trainee exposure to the full spectrum of paediatric practice settings across the country.
