Uche Ikenyei, MSC

Uche is an epidemiologist with 13 years of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) experience in the development aid sector in Nigeria. His past experience encompassed working on multi-million dollar projects, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United States Center for Disease Control (CDC), in the domains of HIV/AIDs, malaria, maternal and child health, and reproductive health programs. Most recently, he worked for USAID Nigeria as the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) specialist for the health, population and nutrition (HPN) office, where he was responsible for coordinating the office's M&E duties from an international donor perspective.
Uche is currently a PhD candidate in the health information sciences (HIS) program at Western University. His research focuses on building and validating information system models to assess infectious disease health information systems in developing country contexts. His research seeks to contribute to providing future health information systems (HIS) researchers with the applicable theoretical underpinnings to assess a developing country’s HIS based on their contextual reality using the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) as a case study. He also lectures at Western University's Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, where he teaches graduate students in the Global Health Systems program on the concepts and practice of global health assessments.
