Competence Committee

The competence committee:

  1. Ensures all learners achieve the requirements of the discipline through synthesis and review of qualitative and quantitative assessment data at each stage of training.
  2. Makes decisions related to progress of residents in achieving the national standards established by Royal College
  3. Provides recommendations on future learning activities

The primary role of the clinical supervisor is to provide coaching and formative feedback which is documented as a low-stakes observation of the trainee’s performance.

The competence committee synthesizes the data from many low-stakes observations for each trainee and makes recommendations related to promotion (or progress).
