Resident Resources

The Program of Experimental Medicine offers a variety of services and resources to Department of Medicine Residents. For more information or any questions about the resources please contact POEMadmin@lhsc.on.ca.

Services

  • Resident Research Day: POEM Coordinates annual Resident Research Day where medical students, residents, fellows, graduate students and faculty members are able to present their research and have an opportunity to network during a day that is dedicated to medical research.
  • Resident Research Projects: POEM will maintain a list of potential research projects suitable for residents. Project information is shared with residents in December and June of each year. If you see a project that interests you please reach-out to the corresponding PI.
  • Statistical Support: All DOM Residents have access to statistical support from one of our POEM Statistical Analysts. Please complete the Statistical Service Request form, have it signed by your DOM Faculty Supervisor, then submit to POEMadmin@lhsc.on.ca.
  • Academic Half Day (PGY1): Once per year a presentation is made to PGY1’s regarding research design, execution, analysis, and support.

  • Sample Size Calculator: to access the sample size calculator please sign into the DOM Intranet and select the ‘Research tab’.
  • Methods Guides: The POEM Methods guide is a concise reference material that addresses common study designs and statistical methods. The guide can be accessed from the ‘Resident tab’ on the DOM Intranet. From the Menu tab, go to Residents, Documents for Residents and then filter by Research Resources.
