Elentra update

The Elentra implementation at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry is continuing.

Postgraduate programs in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, Nephrology, Surgical Foundations, and Urology went live using Elentra for Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) assessments on July 1, 2018. Currently more 2,700 assessments have been completed to date. This includes assessments of nearly 100 residents by 150 faculty assessors.

For the 2019 postgraduate cohorts, it is anticipated having their EPAs available for upload by the end of February.

Postgraduate Medical Education is actively engaged in working with programs to build their contextual variable files, make form/content decisions, and will be offering a form building workshop in March, targeted to program administrators. This cohort includes: Anatomical Pathology, Cardiac Surgery, Critical Care Medicine, Gastroenterology, General Internal Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, Internal Medicine, Neurosurgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Radiation Oncology, and Rheumatology.

Undergraduate Medical Education is actively testing and reviewing Elentra features and functionality to support course delivery and competency-based medical education (CBME) implementation in Clerkship and the Doctor of Medicine curriculum renewal.

We are continuing to test and program some modifications to the latest version 14.1. Highlights available with the new release that will continue to build on the user experience include the following:

  • Elentra allows assessments to be made in real time on a variety of platforms.  While functional, users were requesting improvement to the efficiency of using Elentra on smaller hand held devices.  Information Services has been working on a responsive design for CBME assessments and this will be available in the new release;
  • UME stages have been added which will allow the ability to create different CBME environments for UME and PGME;
  • Accordions have been added to the responsive design, which will help users navigate assessments more easily via a mobile device to eliminate the amount of scrolling required.

The Elentra team looks forward to continuing the implementation with the 2019 cohort and will be working on continued improvements to functionality and the user experience.
