Congratulations to the Centre for Education Research & Innovation (CERI). After a successful review, CERI has been renewed for a four-year term ending August 31, 2019. The external review highlighted a number of achievements in the Centre’s first term, including: its growing national and international research reputation; its extensive mentorship of Schulich Medicine & Dentistry faculty; and its interdisciplinary, collaborative culture. Congratulations to Saad Chahine, PhD, and Dr. Mark Goldszmidt for receiving a $25,000 Royal College/AMS CanMEDS Research Development Grant for their research on investigating the use of cognitive diagnostic assessment in the development and assessment of entrustable professional activities. Congratulations to Dr. Emil Schemitsch. He has been appointed as Chair of the Department of Surgery, Schulich Medicine & Dentistry, and Chief of the Department of Surgery for London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph's Health Care London, effective January 1, 2016. Read more.

Congratulations to Joe Gati, associate director, Centre for Functional and Metabolic Mapping, on completing the Ironman Muskoka triathlon on August 30. Gati finished with a time of 13:00:39.

Congratulations to Dr. David Spence for receiving the Scientific Excellence Award 2015. “The CSATVB Scientific Excellence Award” is sponsored by the Canadian Society for Atherosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology. Dr. Spence will accept his award on October 25 at the Canadian Cardiovascular Society meeting in Toronto.

Congratulations to Natasha Caminsky and Mohammad Hassan for receiving Best Oral Presentation Awards, and Bart Kolendowski and Michael Thwaites for receiving Best Poster Presentation Awards at the London Oncology Research & Education Day.
