Homecoming 2014 offers something for everyone

Get ready - Homecoming 2014 is almost here. Alumni will be welcomed home and have the opportunity to enjoy numerous events and activities – from the traditional annual offerings to new lectures and tours, there is something for everyone.

Scheduled events begin on Saturday, September 20.

For those who like to get an early start the day, we are once again hosting Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs at the Medical School. This includes a Saturday morning event: "Will you still need me, if I'm from the Class of '64?" Register today.

The Dean’s Distinguished Lecture, a new event, will also be held on Saturday morning. Brad Thompson, PhD, will present a thought-provoking presentation on the challenges facing the oncology pharmaceutical industry and why Canadian patients may never benefit from products developed in Canada. You can register for this event online.

While you are on campus, you may want to participate in our new Historic Walking Tour. Western University is rich with medical history, and we are proud to be able to formally highlight the many examples of this history in conjunction with Dr. Shelley McKellar, The Jason A. Hannah Chair in the History of Medicine.

This tour, which can be self-guided (we will have maps!) or guided by some of our own medical students, spans the history of medicine at Western University from the School's earliest days to today. To register, click here.

Our annual Open House will give you the opportunity to visit some of your old classroom and lab spaces, and hear from our leading researchers in Medical Biophysics, Dentistry, Microbiology and Immunology, as well as view some of our new facilities. This year, we have expanded our Open House to include Robarts Research Institute. We have some of the world’s experts in cardiovascular and imaging research lined up for you to meet. You can register online for the Open House here.

The weekend wouldn’t be complete without our Dean’s Gala and Alumni of Distinction Award Presentations. You are invited to join us for an evening of celebration. Following dinner and our awards presentation, guests will enjoy dancing and a live band. You can purchase your tickets online.
