Accreditation - a team sport

Tuesday, November 26, 2013

If Accreditation were a sport - there's no question it would be team based. Successful achievement will require the full support and participation from faculty, staff and students across the School. The good news is our team is growing and getting stronger as a result of the participation of hundreds of individuals.

More than 100 faculty, staff and students have volunteered their time to join team and participate in a number of ISSTF subcommittees. They will be tasked with a critical review of the Foundational Data - which now numbers more than 500 pages. Between the months of January and June 2014, they will determine strengths and challenges along with evidence that our School is achieving its mission and objectives with respect to our distributed medical education program. The leads for the working groups from Windsor and London will be serving on the ISSTF Steering Committee and meeting monthly with a kick-off in November.

Additionally, students have been charged with their task of independently reviewing the medical education program. Their timelines are similar to the ISSTF. The students' findings will be incorporated into the final ISSTF report and sent to the CACMS/LCME survey team.

While we have been working on Accreditation several months, we really are in the first period of the game. There is more to come, and we look forward to continuing to provide you with updates as our work progresses.
