Web Redevelopment Gets Underway

Tuesday, February 26, 2013

The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry website will be undergoing a major redevelopment. The project is part of an overhaul of all websites at Western University.

Getting underway in the next few weeks, the project will be led by the Communications & Marketing team, along with Information Services (IS). Western's Communications and Information Technology Services (ITS) will provide ongoing guidance and support throughout the life of the project.

Given the size and complexity of our School, we will be dividing the work up into phases. And we will be tackling the sites of departments and divisions in two or three smaller groups. This will allow us to provide thorough training and support as required.

The project will begin with engagement of our web users as well as stakeholders across the School. The information we gather will help us to develop our navigation and structure for the main site as well as program, departmental and divisional sites. From there, we will work closely with those departments who will be part of the first phase of the redevelopment. These departments who will be involved in the first phase will be informed directly. Once they agree to serve as our first group, information about their involvement will be shared broadly.

Training will be an important component of this project, as we will be moving to a new content management system called CASCADE. Currently members of our IS team are getting up to speed on the system and group training will roll out as part of the overall work for the project.

The communications and marketing team looks forward to providing updates to everyone regarding the progress of this exciting project. We will be using The Pulse and group meetings to keep you informed. If you ever have any questions about the ongoing work, please don't hesitate to contact Jennifer Parraga at extension 86415 or Jennifer.parraga@schulich.uwo.ca.
