Paying it Forward in Windsor

For the Class of 2013 in Windsor, giving back to a community who has been so welcoming and given so much to them was a priority and something very close to their hearts. When it came time to choose a charity to support throughout their four years of undergrad, they looked to Hiatus House - and immediately began to pay forward all the community support they have received. A social service agency offering confidential intervention for families experiencing domestic violence, Hiatus House offers a wide variety of programs from Crisis Intervention and Residential to School and Fresh Start Programs.

During the past three years, the Class of 2013 have participated in Hiatus House's annual walkathon, sold furniture and books, hosted a lunch box social, and jointly with their peers held the Valentine's Day Treat-o-grams, all in an effort to raise funds for those people who turn in need to Hiatus House. They have also wrapped gifts for the clients and made in kind donations. This year, the Class will be donating $1,000 to the benefit the clients at the House.

"It has been our pleasure to work with Hiatus House," said Paula Dubois, Meds 2013. "We hope that we have made a positive impact on the Windsor community."
