Getting Sweet on Giving

Tuesday, February 26, 2013

Valentine's Day was very sweet for a lot of people across Schulich Medicine & Dentistry, Robarts Research Institute and the Research Park. That's thanks in part to the bake sales held by the Breast for Success Team. As people got a little sweet on the cupcakes, cookies and chocolates, they also collectively donated more than $600 toward the team's overall goal of $23,000. The team is representing Schulich Medicine & Dentistry at BustaMove - a fundraiser hosted by St. Joseph's Health Care Foundation supporting breast health services at St. Joseph's Hospital. To date, the 23- member-team has received more than $19,600 toward their overall goal of $23,000.

With just a few more weeks until the April 6 event, team members continue to do personal fundraising to achieve the overall goal. They are also planning more events to get the community across Schulich Medicine & Dentistry involved. A book sale will be held on March 7 in the MSB Lobby and an online auction will go live in March.

And if you happen to love 80's music, you can purchase tickets for the "Blast from the Past" dance being organized by team members Nancy Annett and Brenda Davis. For only $15 you can enjoy a great night of music featuring a live band and roast beef on a bun. The dance is being held at the St. Thomas Legion on Friday, March 22. For more information or to purchase tickets, please contact Nancy Annett (nancy.annett@schulich.uwo.ca) or Brenda Davis (brenda.davis@schulich.uwo.ca).

The team is incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support from colleagues across the School, and looks forward to being one of the top fundraisers for the event.
