Participate in the admissions process

The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry values a holistic approach to selecting successful applicants for the Medicine and Dentistry Programs. Emphasis is placed on academis and non-academic traits, while remaining committed to ensuring diversity, equity, and inclusion.

In addition to grades and admissions test scores, the School evaluates autobiographical sketches prior to determining who is selected for interviews. Applicants are then ranked to determine who is offered admission to Schulich Medicine & Dentistry.

As part of our admissions process we engage volunteers to review admission files and participate in the interviews.

As a file reviewer, you would review 10 to 15 anonymized electronic files during a two-week period in November/December 2019. It is anticipated this will take approximately 15 hours. File reviews can be done anywhere and on your own time, and a manual will be provided with instructions and guidelines.

As an interviewer, you will participate in a three-person panel consisting of a physician or dentist, a community member, and a senior medical or dental student. As a member of the interview team, you would facilitate four to six interviews lasting 30 to 45 minutes. The time commitment is one Saturday or Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., during March 2020 (Medicine) or April 2020 (Dentistry). Interviews and training are held in London at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University.

Volunteers from all academic and professional backgrounds are welcome.
