Current Program:  Masters in Medical Biophysics

Degrees Held:  BMSc, Honors Specialization in Medical Sciences

Future Goals: I intend to continue my pursuit of a higher education by working towards a PhD in Medical Biophysics and becoming a professor.

Why I chose the BMSc Program: The BMSc program permitted me to gain knowledge in a multitude of basic medical science disciplines and to delve into a plethora of topics that particularly interested me. Registration in the Honors Specialization in Medical Sciences allowed me to explore my interests in Neuroscience, Medical Cell Biology, Medical Biophysics, and Microbiology and Immunology.

How did my BMSc degree prepare me for my future goals? Upon entering the Medical Sciences I was completely unaware of Medical Biophysics. I was able to find my true passion and integrate a great deal of the knowledge I attained to pursuing my Masters in Medical Biophysics.

What inspired me to pursue an advanced degree: A career in the academics provides the independence and innovative authority that you generally could only attain in a profession ten or twenty years from now. You are able to collaborate with professionals of great knowledge and experience to develop a thesis to complement your unwavering motivation. Particularly with my research, I was able to integrate my interest for physics and biology with my passion for medical innovation and breast cancer research.

Favourite Western memory: My favourite Western memory was the opportunity that convocation brought, bringing together my family in a beautiful setting that made me the person that I am today and the same setting that commemorated the esteemed alumni that came before me.

Best thing about being a student at Western: The best thing about being a student at Western is the friendly camaraderie and the bustling educated conversation you hear on your daily commute throughout the beautiful campus. Students are genuinely excited to be gaining an education and sharing that positivity with their colleagues.

Advice to students considering Western: University can be an overwhelming period with the new independence, freedom, and workload. Students at Western University can be sure that they will receive the resources to maintain an enriched, balanced lifestyle that gives back in multitudes in return for the initiative that is put forward. You have the opportunity to enrich your passions from intramural sports of various levels of competition, opportunities in student council, positions in research, and integration into the London community to name a few in an exhaustive list of opportunities.
