Clinical Activities

Keywords:  Neurodegenerative Disease, Alzheimer’s disease, Lewy Body Disease, Parksinon’s Disease Dementia

At my clinic at the Cognitive Neurology and Alzheimer's Disease Research Centre at Parkwood Hospital I specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of Neurodegenerative diseases, with a focus on  Alzheimer’s disease, Lewy Body Disease, Parksinon’s Disease Dementia

Research Activities

Keywords:  Neurodegenerative Disease, Alzheimer’s disease, Lewy Body Disease, Parksinon’s Disease Dementia, Clinical Trials;    Cell Biology, beta Amyloid, Live Cell Imaging. Lysosomal Biology, Contrast agent development, Plasma Microparticles/exosomes.

At my laboratory at the Robarts Research Institute I am focused on understanding the basic cell biology of Alzheimer’s disease, using live cell imaging to study the role of intracellular protein trafficking on the production of beta-Amyloid.  Other projects include developing Fluorescent and PET contrast agents for the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, and developing diagnostic for Neurological disease tests based on microparticles in patient plasma samples. In the clinic, I have launched a Phase 2 Clinical Trial of Ambroxol in Parkinson’s Disease Dementia, and participate in academic and industry-sponsored clinical trials.
