Case-based learning

Case-based learning prepares you for real-world challenges by helping you tackle complex problems, respond to fluid situations, enhance communication and writing skills and develop teamwork and leadership skills.

You’ll be assigned to a small-group learning team with a dedicated workspace. Learning teams collaborate on assignments, discussions and peer learning. These teams allow for diverse perspectives, and offer leadership development and personal growth opportunities.

Admission requirements


Educational requirements

A four-year undergraduate degree with a minimum 70% (Canadian equivalent) over the last two years of study.

Recommended course work

Successfully completed an undergraduate statistics course with a minimum 70% (Canadian equivalency) within the last five years (recommended).

Public health awareness

Demonstrated awareness and interest of the public health profession's role in identifying and solving complex health problems (through work, volunteering, etc.)

English language proficiency

Demonstrated English language proficiency if you have not studied at the post-secondary level for at least two years in an English speaking country. Learn more

Practicum

The MPH practicum is a 12-week mandatory placement in a public health organization where you'll learn from professionals in the field. The practicum is unpaid and takes place during the summer term (May to July).

Support with finding placements

You'll work with a career development co-ordinator to explore interests in a variety of public health functions and organizations, and identify a placement that supports your future career aspirations.
