Judith Belle Brown, Ph.D. in Social Work from Smith College is a Professor in the Centre for Studies in Family Medicine, the Department of Family Medicine, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University, London, Ontario, Canada. 

Dr. Brown is the Chair of the MClSc and Ph.D. in Family Medicine at Western. Dr. Brown conducts research in the areas of patient-centered care, interprofessional teamwork and teambuilding, physician well-being, physician practice behavior and health system change. Dr. Brown has presented papers and conducted workshops both nationally and internationally on the patient-centered clinical method. Dr. Brown is a co-author of the book Patient-Centered Medicine: Transforming the Clinical Method, 3rd Edition and a co-editor of Challenges and Solutions: Narratives of Patient-Centered Care and Challenges and Solutions in Patient-Centered Care: A Case Book. Dr. Brown is also a Series Editor of a series of 8 books on using patient-centered care with specific conditions (i.e. chronic fatigue, eating disorders). Dr. Brown was made an Honorary Member of the College of Family Physicians of Canada in 1996, is co-recipient of the College of Family Physicians of Canada Best Original Research Article Award (2009) and the Dean’s Award of Excellence – Team Award for the Centre for Studies in Family Medicine (2010). Recipient of one of the Top 20 Pioneers of Family Medicine Research in Canada (2015). Recipient of the Dean’s Award of Excellence – Schulich Leadership Award, Schulich Excellence in Education Award for Graduate/Postgraduate (2015). Recipient of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC), 2016 Family Medicine Researcher of the Year (2016). Recipient of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) Outstanding Family Medicine Research Article Award (2016).
