This Continuing Medical Education virtual event will be held every Wednesday, from September 30 to October 28, 2026. Each week a brand new topic will be discussed from 12:15 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. (EST)

The Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery is excited to continue offering its five-part ENT Refresher webinar series for family physicians and primary care providers. Although these webinars are designed for family physicians and primary care providers, we encourage other ENT healthcare professionals to attend, including residents, medical students, audiologists, and speech-language pathologists. Each of the five webinars will be forty-five minutes in length, followed by thirty minutes question and answer periods.

Note: For individuals who have chosen to join the above mailing list - you will receive a notification email as soon as the registration links open in early August. Once you have completed the brief registration form for the webinars you wish to attend, you will receive instructions on how to access the corresponding Zoom sessions. Zoom links will be provided following registration and payment confirmation.
ENT Refresher Series Goals
- To expand the lines of communication between primary care physicians and specialists in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery
- To share discussion and recent advances as it pertains to complex or challenging cases in Otolaryngology
By the end of this ENT Refresher Webinar Series, participants will be able to
- Apply knowledge of recent advances to complex or challenging cases in Otolaryngology
- Employ an increased quality of care to patients requiring ENT based treatment
- Recognize when a referral to an ENT specialist should occur, and how to optimize pre-referral workup
Certificates of Attendance
- Certificates will be emailed at the end of the 5-week webinar series, with individual certificates being sent for each webinar attended. Each certificate will contain the Mainpro Program ID number for the associated webinar. This will assist attendees in finding the event within the CFPC website. Certificates can only be distributed to those attendees who both register for and attend the webinar of interest. To maintain the confidentiality of patient information and educational content, webinar recordings and presentation slides will not be made available to participants.

- Please note that there is only one registration page associated for the webinars. Thus, please select each webinar you plan to attend and ensure that your first name, last name, and email address are entered correctly during registration.
- A registration fee of $20.00 applies to the full five-part webinar series and is non-prorated. Payment instructions will be provided upon registration. Please note that a single payment of $20.00 is required for registration.

Common Pediatric ENT Illnesses
OBJECTIVES: At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Apply current evidence and clinical practice guidelines to the assessment and management of common pediatric ear, nose, throat, and sleep-related conditions
- Recognize key clinical features and red flags that distinguish common, self-limited pediatric ENT conditions from those requiring further investigation or urgent assessment
- Identify when referral to Pediatric Otolaryngology is indicated and optimize pre-referral evaluation and management

Mouth Lesions, Oral and Tongue Conditions
OBJECTIVES: At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Recognize common benign oral lesions and conditions that can be managed appropriately in primary care
- Develop an initial management plan for common oral conditions, including removal of local irritants, symptomatic treatment and appropriate follow-up
- Identify clinical features and patient-related risk factors associated with potentially malignant and malignant oral disease
- Determine when additional investigation, biopsy or referral is indicated
- Communicate relevant clinical information effectively in a referral

- Understand sinonasal anatomy as it relates to obstruction and congestion
- Appreciate reasons for medical treatment failure
- Review standard surgical approaches to correct sinonasal problems
- Learn about upcoming or uninsured options to treat nasal disorders

Week 4 - October 21 @ 12:15-13:30 Hrs (EST)
ENT Emergencies
OBJECTIVES: At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Apply a structured initial assessment and management approach to epistaxis and oropharyngeal bleeding, including identification of life-threatening hemorrhage, appropriate first-line interventions, and criteria for urgent Otolaryngology referral
- Recognize and differentiate sudden sensorineural hearing loss from conductive hearing loss, and formulate an appropriate initial investigation and management plan, including indications for urgent specialist assessment
- Interpret the clinical findings associated with temporal bone fractures, identify potential complications, and prioritize appropriate investigations, acute management, and indications for Otolaryngology/neurosurgical consultation
- Recognize, assess, and initiate management of potentially life-threatening upper airway obstruction and neck masses, using a systematic approach to airway stabilization, identification of red-flag features, and timely escalation to emergency and Otolaryngology services
