Interview Selection & Notification

  • Each spring, Schulich Medicine invites the top 450 ranked candidates for an interview at our London Campus location.
  • Candidates will be invited for an interview based on undergraduate academic performance, MCAT score, and abbreviated autobiographical sketch.
  • Interview invitations and declines will be communicated by email from the Admissions Office in late January or early February.

Interview Weekends

  • Interviews for each application cycle traditionally take place in March. For interview dates, see Important Dates.
  • Interviews are 45-minutes duration, structured and standardized, and conducted by a three-person panel consisting of a physician, a community member, and a senior medical student.
  • Candidates invited for an interview must also participate in a brief online component comprised of reading and then summarizing a passage according to instructions.
  • Southwestern Ontario candidates must bring an original high school transcript to the interview registration.

First Round of Offers

  • After all interviews have been completed, the Medicine Admissions Committee will meet to make entrance decisions based on candidate ranking.
  • Emails will be sent from the Admissions Office in early May, advising candidates about Schulich Medicine admission decisions. For first round offers of admission date, see Important Dates.
  • Offers will continue to be sent until the entire class of 171 students is filled:
    • London Campus: 133 seats
    • Windsor Campus: 38 seats
  • Campus preference is considered during the offer process but cannot be guaranteed.
  • Details of the wait list are confidential and the information will not be released.  The waiting list will remain active as long as feasible, often until the beginning of classes.

Decision Review

  • Candidates who do not receive an offer of admission may request a review of the decision of the Medicine Admissions Committee, provided such a request is based on new and significant information pertinent to the application.
  • A request must be filed with the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, no later than two weeks after the issue of the original decision.
  • The request should contain information not available to the candidate prior to the last Wednesday in May in the year following submission of the application.
  • Requests will be passed on to the Appeals Committee whose decision is final.
