Interview Selection & Notification
Each spring, Schulich Medicine invites the top 450 ranked applicants for an interview. Applicants will be invited for an interview based on:
- undergraduate academic performance
- MCAT scores
- Abbreviated Autobiographical Sketch
- Confidential Assessment Forms
Interview invitations and declines will be communicated by email from the Admissions Office in late January or early February.
Interview Timing & Format
Interviews are traditionally held on the first and last weekends of March.
Interviews are 45-minutes duration, structured and standardized, and are conducted by a three-person panel consisting of a physician, a community member, and a senior medical student.
Applicants who meet our Southwestern Ontario designation must submit an original high school transcript when they register for an interview.
Offers of Admission
First round of offers will be sent by email from the Admissions Office in early May, advising candidates about Schulich Medicine admission decisions.
Offers will continue to be sent until the entire class of up to 171 students is filled:
Campus preference is considered during the offer process but cannot be guaranteed.
Details of the wait list are confidential and ranked position of candidates will not be released. The wait list will remain active as long as feasible, often until the beginning of classes.
Candidates who do not receive an offer of admission may request a review of the decision of the Medicine Admissions Committee, provided such a request is based on new and significant information pertinent to the application.
A request must be filed with the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, no later than two weeks after the issue of the original decision.
Requests will be passed on to the Executive of the Medicine Admissions Committee whose decision is final.
