Hello, We hope this message finds you well. We wanted to share some exciting updates and upcoming opportunities from the Schulich Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Decolonization (EDI-D). Below, you will find a variety of upcoming events, a significant funding announcement, and a groundbreaking study that deserves widespread sharing within your networks. Cheers to staying informed and connected! 1) Growing Community: Our Community of Support is expanding, and we're thrilled to see the enthusiasm for connection, learning, and contribution. The community is open to everyone at Schulich, please feel free to share these updates as you see fit, and anyone interested in joining can always reach out at edid@schulich.uwo.ca. 2) The Schulich EDI-D Website Launch: We're excited to announce the launch of our Schulich EDI-D website! Check it out at https://www.schulich.uwo.ca/edid/. This is meant to be a foundation to build upon, we want this site to support our collective learning in this space. Your feedback is crucial to us as we aim to tailor our content to the needs of our Schulich community. If you have suggestions, additions, resources, or feedback, please share them with us at edid@schulich.uwo.ca. This site is for all of us. We would like to call your attention to a few spaces where we want to ensure all the work being done at Schulich is represented, please let us know of anything we have not captured.
4) BrainCAN's EDI Funding Call: BrainsCAN is excited to announce the EDI Funding Call, offering two streams of funding totaling $110,000. Stream 1 supports individuals in cognitive neuroscience with up to $3,000 for EDI training, events, and conferences. Stream 2 invites bold and innovative ideas, providing up to $30,000 for projects enhancing diversity within the research space. Check out the full guidelines and application forms at EDI Funding Call and make your mark by January 25, 2024. Register to attend the information session. Unable to attend, but have questions about the EDI Funding Call? Email bcnedi@uwo.ca . 5) Enhancing Black Experiences at Western: The Robbins-Olivier Award for Excellence and Equity is a new award, funded by the Canadian Research Chair Program. The Robbins-Olivier research team— a coalition of Black academics, administrators, and allies – is one of the 2022 winners. Currently, a study on Black lived experiences is underway at Western—please find the attached poster. We encourage you to share this widely within your networks at Western. The goal is to develop game-changing insight into the diversity of Black life across campus, and how it may be similar and different across disciplines, ethnicities, genders, classes, abilities, and campuses. Raising participation will help in breaking ground on an under-documented, and historically overlooked population! 6) Meet and Greet Session: The response to our Meet and Greet session has been fantastic! If you haven't already, please complete the Doodle Poll [https://doodle.com/meeting/participate/id/e39QBmnb] to let us know your availability. While attendance is encouraged, it's not mandatory for participation in the Community of Support. As always, we value your input and suggestions. Feel free to reach out to us at edid@schulich.uwo.ca for any inquiries or support. Warm regards, |
