Prerequisites
To participate in this course, you must have received an invitation from the ITD Program office confirming that your application to the ITD Program is complete. You must have your registration number when registering on-line for the PLA Course.
We strongly urge that you register as soon as possible for this high-demand course as your enrollment is not guaranteed. Seats are limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. *If the course is full, email the CDE office at cde@schulich.uwo.ca to be placed on a waitlist.

Clinical sessions are from 9:00am to 12:00pm and 1:00pm to 4:00pm *lunch break 12:00pm to 1:00pm

IMPORTANT: Cohort A dates will be released first. If the maximum participant number is met (50 ppl), the dates for Cohort B (December 11 to 16, 2023) may open pending the waitlist numbers. No requests to switch dates. However, Schulich Dentistry reserves the right to re-allocate participants due to circumstances beyond our control. You are required to be flexible and move cohort dates if necessary.
Course location
Lectures will be delivered asynchronous and online. Clinical sessions will be held at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, 1151 Richmond Street, London, ON, N5A 5C1. Full directions and parking information will be provided by Continuing Dental Education closer to the beginning of the course.
Computer Requirements (ONLINE lectures)
Lectures will be delivered asynchronous and online the OWL Portal by pre-recorded video lectures and PowerPoint slideshow. Important: It's the responsibility of the candidate to make sure you have the computer system requirements so you are able to successfully complete the online portion of the PLA Course.
Online lectures - Computer requirementsYou MUST have access to a modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, etc. ) and also have an internet connection, to use OWL.
Important: to open/watch a video locally on your computer you need a video player (included with most operating systems, or use VLC).
To open a downloaded PowerPoint slideshow, you need to have a program that supports PPTX files (i.e., PowerPoint, Google Slides, LibreOffice, etc.)

Course Requirement - Attendance
PLA Course Requirement: 80% mandatory attendance for both the online lectures (via module assessments) and the in-person clinical sessions is required to successfully complete the course. Failure to successfully complete this course will void your invitation to the Schulich Dentistry Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) Exam.
Online lectures: Assessments/Quizzes must be completed within the deadline date specified for each module. It’s the candidate’s responsibility to make sure to complete all the quizzes by the due dates or it will negatively affect the 80% attendance requirement. No late submissions allowed.
In-person clinical sessions is required to successfully complete this course.You must attend 80% of the in-person clinical sessions.
If there is an unexpected emergency preventing you to attend a session, you are REQUIRED to inform the CDE office in writing in advance if you will be absent. Please email us at CDE@schulich.uwo.ca. Note: the absence will affect the 80% mandatory attendance requirement. Attend ALL (online & in-person) sessions to guarantee your invitation to the PLA Exam.
Tuition fee
$8,549 + HST. A deposit of $4,000 is due upon registration. The final balance (2nd Intallment) is due by the last date of the registration deadline, (Friday, September 8 11:55 pm EST.)
Cancellation policy
There is a $400 administration fee for any cancellation received before September 8, 2023. No refunds issued after the deadline date. Tuition fee will be forfeited. No exceptions.

- Government issued photo ID (passport)
- Paper or laptop to take notes, pens/pencils
- Clinic attire (for clinical sessions) - scrubs (any color) and clean closed-toe shoes
- Safety glasses (for clinical sessions). Loupes are optional
- Medical mask
- Faceshield (for clinical sessions)
- Dentoform (front, back, top and side photos)

- No food is provided during this course. We recommend you bring your own packed lunch daily.
- You MUST BRING ALL ITEMS above. If not, you will not be able to complete the exercises. This will affect the successful completion of the PLA course and will void your invitation to the PLA Exam.
- The school does NOT sell the items listed above. Make sure you bring EVERYTHING listed above to each clinical session.
- You will be responsible to pay for broken, damaged or lost instruments/equipment.

- All dental/hand instruments (use during course only), burs, dental materials and supplies for the daily exercises.
