What is Competence by Design?

In the Competence by Design (CBD) continuum, medical trainees and specialists progress from entry to residency, four stages of residency, and independent practice until retirement. The four stages include Transition to Discipline, Foundations of Discipline, Core of Discipline, and Transition to Practice.

The main CBME page on the Royal College website has detailed and helpful information. We recommend that you peruse it for an immersive understanding of the basics of CBD.
