Announcement: Welcome Dr. Andrew Deweyert, Assistant Professor

Anatomy & Cell Biology is delighted to welcome Dr. Andrew Deweyert as a new limited term Assistant Professor in the area of histology and anatomy starting on June 1, 2023. As a proud ACB alumnus, Dr. Deweyert comes to us from the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago, where he is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Education and the Anatomy Curriculum Co-Lead for Undergraduate Medicine and the Physician’s Assistant program. Based on his teaching excellence and contributions to curricular innovations during his short time in Chicago, Dr. Deweyert was the recipient of the 2022 John X. Thomas Jr. Best Teachers of Feinberg Award as well as 2 other student-led teaching award nominations. He was also awarded the 2019 Francis Chan Humanitarian Prize during his PhD studies in ACB. Dr. Deweyert’s current research interests include neuro-oncology, translational cancer research, and scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL). In particular, his SoTL work is focused on understanding and assessing the role of technology in the classroom as well as evaluating assessment methods in the medical curriculum; both of which are aimed at evidence-based pedagogy. We are excited to have Dr. Deweyert as part of the ACB team and look forward to his teaching and scholarly contributions to the department and the broader Western community. Welcome Andrew!
