Announcement: Dr. Douglas Fraser appointed GSK Chair in Clinical Pharmacology
Dr. Douglas Fraser
I am pleased to announce that Dr. Douglas Fraser has been appointed as the GSK Chair in Clinical Pharmacology at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, effective May 1, 2025, to April 30, 2030.
The GSK Chair in Clinical Pharmacology is dedicated to leading a research program directed at developing and evaluating optimal disease treatments. The research focus of the GSK Chair in Clinical Pharmacology will be on the development and validation of optimal methodologies to assess novel medicines.
Dr. Fraser received his MD/PhD in Physiology and Biophysics from the University of Calgary. He completed specialty training in Paediatrics at Queen’s University and clinical fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine at the University of Ottawa.
In 2003, he joined Western University as an Assistant Professor in the departments of Paediatrics, Physiology & Pharmacology and Clinical Neurological Sciences. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2008 and became a Professor in 2017.
Dr. Fraser has received many awards and recognitions, including the Researcher of the Year award at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry, Western University in 2023, the Scientist of the Year award at the Lawson Health Research Institute in 2022 and the Vanguard Award from WORLDiscoveries also in 2022.
Dr. Fraser is eager to collaborate with esteemed colleagues at Western University and Children’s Hospital to advance the field of paediatric clinical pharmacology. By fostering strong partnerships with clinicians, researchers and industry leaders at the London Health Sciences Centre and beyond, he is dedicated to leading innovative research initiatives that enhance clinical outcomes for children and address unmet needs in paediatric medicine.
