Announcement: Dr. P. Andrea Lum as Vice Dean, Clinical Faculty Affairs - Extension
Dr. P. Andrea Lum
I am pleased to announce the extension of Dr. P. Andrea Lum’s appointment as Vice Dean, Clinical Faculty Affairs at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University. Dr. Lum’s extended term will be effective January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025.
Dr. Lum was appointed Vice Dean, Clinical Faculty Affairs, on January 1, 2020, for a five-year term at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry. In this role, Dr. Lum has led and developed faculty experience including Faculty Wellbeing and Professional Affairs for Schulich Medicine & Dentistry. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Lum led the development and implementation of the Schulich Wellbeing Program, Peers for Peers, providing crucial support to faculty across the London and Windsor campuses.
Dr. Lum also implemented new faculty promotions guidelines and introduced an annual event to recognize and celebrate faculty promotions, further contributing to faculty development and recognition.
Dr. Lum has led a decanal team to further implementation of mentorship and continuing professional development activities in the Schulich community. Representing Schulich Medicine & Dentistry, Dr. Lum was appointed as the Academic Director to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) Council/Board in 2022 for a three-year term. Dr. Lum continues to serve on the editorial board for the Canadian Association of Radiologists Journal, the Canadian Journal of Physician Leadership and the Medical Women of Canada Foundation. In 2023, she completed two terms as Vice President of the Board of the Canadian Association of Radiologists Foundation.
A prominent clinical academic physician leader with a career spanning over two decades, Dr. Lum began her journey as a radiologist at the University of Ottawa in 1989, before being recruited to Western University in 2000. Since then, Dr. Lum has held several key leadership positions, including Program Director of the Diagnostic Radiology Residency in 2001, and Chair of the Department of Medical Imaging in 2008. Dr. Lum became the first City-wide Chief of Diagnostic Radiology. During this time, she also served as the Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) and Director of Quality Medical Care at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC).
Dr. Lum has received numerous awards, including the Chair’s Award of Inspiration in 2016, in recognition of Exemplary humanitarian efforts; the MAC Award for Excellence in Leadership in 2017 and 2019 and was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Department of Medical Imaging in 2019. She was awarded the Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) Gold Medal and became a Fellow of the CAR FCAR in 2021. This year, she was recognized for her leadership and collaboration with an Innovators in Education Award with a Certificate of Achievement from LHSC.
