Announcement: Dr. Louise Moist appointed William F. Clark Chair in Nephrology

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Louise Moist has been appointed as the William F. Clark Chair in Nephrology, effective September 14, 2024, to August 31, 2029.
Dr. Moist is the Chair/Division Head of the Division of Nephrology, Department of Medicine, at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, and the Head of the Renal Program at the London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC).
Made possible through an ongoing partnership between Western University, London Health Sciences Foundation (LHSF) and The Kidney Foundation of Canada, the William F. Clark Chair in Nephrology is focused on fueling the next generation of promising treatments and therapies to help battle chronic kidney disease (CKD), which impacts one in 10 people. The Nephrology program at LHSC is among the most comprehensive programs in Canada, treating thousands of patients every year.
Backed by a strong partnership, and powered by permanently invested funds and held by the Division Chair/Chief/Department Head, the William F. Clark Chair in Nephrology will enhance research, practices, tools and technology, ultimately translating into better care for CKD patients. Partnering with LHSC, Schulich Medicine & Dentistry’s faculty and researchers are leading breakthroughs to prevent and treat kidney disease.
A clinician researcher, Dr Moist is a Professor in the Departments of Medicine, and Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Schulich Medicine, with a decade-long tenure as the Associate Chair of the Division of Nephrology. As a Certified Canadian Physician Executive, Dr. Moist has demonstrated leadership across provincial, national and international platforms. Her roles include serving as the Ontario West Pandemic Lead for Southwestern Ontario, the Internal Medicine Physician Lead for the South West Local Health Integrated Network, and the Medical Lead for Dialysis Access with the Ontario Renal Network.
Dr. Moist has also served as the President of the Canadian Organ Replacement Registry and Guideline Chair for the Canadian Society of Nephrology's Management of Anemia in Chronic Kidney Disease and Timing of Dialysis Start. In her current role as Associate Director of the Center for Quality Improvement, Innovation, and Safety, Dr. Moist continues to drive advancements in health-care quality and patient safety. She maintains a clinical practice in both inpatient and outpatient settings, actively engaging with trainees across all levels. This includes supervising students pursuing a Master’s degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and Public Health.
Dr. Moist’s research focuses on CKD progression, obesity, kidney transplantation and implementation science, leading to the publication of over 250 peer-reviewed articles. Dr. Moist's contributions have been recognized with numerous awards, including the Canadian Society of Nephrology Distinguished Service Award, the MAC Chairs Award for outstanding contribution to quality improvement and patient safety, and both a Western University and a Schulich Dean's Award in Excellence in Teaching and Excellence in Research award.
