Announcement: Dr. George Kim appointed as the Associate Dean, Admissions
We are pleased to announce that Dr. George Kim has been appointed the Associate Dean, Admissions, at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University effective July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2027.
Dr. Kim graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Science in 1998 from Queen’s University. He completed his Doctor of Medicine and his residency training in Family Medicine at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry.
In 2006, he joined the Department of Family Medicine, Schulich Medicine & Dentistry as an Adjunct Professor and became an Associate Professor in 2018.
Dr. Kim’s administrative experience includes Clinical Team Lead, Byron Family Medical Centre; Academic Director, Undergraduate Family Medicine; Southwestern Ontario Medical Education Network Undergraduate Academic Director, Department of Family Medicine. Most recently, he served as the Assistant Dean, Distributed Education.
Dr. Kim is a recipient of the Schulich Department of Family Medicine Best Core Family Medicine Teacher Award in 2019; CAME Certificate of Merit in 2018; Class of ’62 Award in 2015 and 2019; Douglas Bocking Award for Excellence in Medical Teaching in 2015; Schulich Medicine and Dentistry Young Alumni Award in 2015; Dr. Dana Winterburn Memorial Award in 2013; Schulich Excellence in Education Award in 2012; University Student’s Council Teaching Honour Roll from 2006 to 2019 and the Dr. Jim Silcox Award in 2003.
Dr. Kim maintains an active research program in the areas of Physician and Trainee Wellness, Professional Identify Formation, Understanding and Supporting a Rural Workforce and Rural Medical Education.
