Announcement: Dr. Gary Tithecott appointed Acting Associate Dean, Admissions
I am pleased to announce that Dr. Gary Tithecott has been appointed as Acting Associate Dean, Admissions, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, effective September 1, 2021, until a new Associate Dean is appointed in 2022.
Dr. Tithecott graduated with his Doctor of Medicine from the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry in 1979 and his Master’s in Business Administration from the Ivey Business School at Western in 2011. Dr. Tithecott is a consulting general paediatrician and leader in the Department of Paediatrics at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry and London Health Sciences Centre. He practised in Chatham-Kent from 1986 until 2016, while holding a number of health leadership positions.
He led and served in medical education committees within Schulich Medicine & Dentistry; the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada and the Council of Ontario Faculties of Medicine. He was a leader in the School’s undergraduate medical education accreditation of 2015 and has contributed as a peer reviewer for Canadian medical schools and internationally. He has also led in-hospital accreditation processes for the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and the London Health Sciences Centre.
Dr. Tithecott has been a valued educator for medical students throughout his career and received the Dr. Douglas Bocking Award in 2017. He served as the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Medical Education (2011-2020) and the Acting Vice Dean, Undergraduate Medical Education (2020-2021).
