Announcement: Jimmy Dikeakos selected as President of the Canadian Society for Virology

Jimmy Dikeakos, PhD, has been selected as the President of the Canadian Society for Virology, effective January 1, 2021.

Dikeakos, an Associate Professor of Microbiology and Immunology, investigates protein trafficking processes in cells and their subversion by viruses. In addition to supervising students and trainees, he has also taught hundreds of students as course coordinator of the introductory virology course at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry.

Dikeakos was previously involved with the Canadian Society for Virology (CSV) executive committee as Vice-President, and served as the CSV delegate for Western University. The organization’s mandate is to foster and support virology research in Canada through initiatives including biennial symposia, research awards and a lab exchange program that allows virology trainees to visit other Canadian institutions.

As President, Dikeakos will lead the CSV executive committee, comprised of colleagues from Memorial University, McMaster University, the University of Manitoba, Université de Montréal and the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and Research Institute.
