Announcement: Dr. Elizabeth Osuch re-appointed as the Dr. Joseph Rea Chair in Mood Disorders
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Elizabeth Osuch has been re-appointed as the Dr. Joseph Rea Chair in Mood Disorders at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, effective August 1, 2020 to July 31, 2025.
As the Dr. Joseph Rea Chair in Mood Disorders, Dr. Osuch’s primary role is to support evidence-based research into the causes, prevention and treatment of affective disorders to improve the care and treatment of those suffering from these disorders.
Dr. Osuch received her medical degree from Michigan State University in 1993. She completed a residency in Psychiatry at Sheppard Pratt Health Systems in Baltimore, Maryland, followed by a clinical research fellowship at the National Institute of Mental Health, Biological Psychiatry Branch in Maryland, USA.
Dr. Osuch is the Founder and Physician Leader of the First Episode Mood and Anxiety Program (FEMAP) at London Health Sciences Centre. She established the program in 2006, providing clinical research volunteer opportunities for students and trainees, as well as clinical care services to hundreds of late-adolescents and young adults with recent onset mood and anxiety symptoms each year. FEMAP also helps to facilitate research on the characteristics of the early stages of affective illnesses using brain imaging.
Dr.Osuch has published more than 80 peer-reviewed journal articles, abstracts and posters. She has received a number of awards including the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry Dean’s Award of Excellence (Individual) in 2009 and Dean’s Award of Excellence (Team) in 2014. Dr. Osuch also participates in a number of professional society and memberships, and University and Hospital committees.
