Announcement: Alumni team tops Proteus Innovation Competition

Alumni Jamie Ching, BMSc’17, MSc’19, and Sophia Lu, BMSc’18, topped the 2019/20 Proteus Innovation Competition, a four-month contest that takes three newly developed technologies and challenges teams to plan their commercialization.

As part of Team Neolyx, Ching and Lu helped develop a winning business plan and pitch for a neonatal laryngoscope, a medical device for the safe and effective intubation of premature babies.

The technology is based at McMaster University. Researchers have designed and patented a neonatal laryngoscope that considers the anatomy of neonates and makes intubation significantly simpler and safer.
