Schulich Medicine & Dentistry Update: Province-wide shutdown

On December 22, you would have received an email from Western’s Provost and VP Operations outlining the University’s planned response to the province-wide lockdown.

Further to this directive, we want to confirm the following details as it relates to Schulich Medicine & Dentistry programs:

Research - Continues, in-person research involving human participants may be approved on a case-by-case basis by the Dean, Associate Dean (research) or Department delegate. Please consult with your program supervisor to determine the appropriate maximum occupancy for your lab and ensure all social distancing protocols can be accommodated. Please visit the research website for more information.

Staff and Faculty - Those not physically required to work on campus or hospital, should work from home. Please consult directly with your supervisor if you are unsure.

BMSC and Graduate studies students - Virtual classes will resume on January 11, 2021, with the intention to resume any in-person classes for these students on January 25, 2021.

Graduate studies students - Research continues. Please consult with your supervisor regarding scheduling your access to the lab. If you do not need to be on campus, please continue to work safely off-site.

Medicine (Year 1 and 2) - Virtual classes will resume on January 4, 2021.

Medicine (Year 3 and 4) - Clinical, in-person learning will continue as scheduled. Please visit the UME website for more information.

Dentistry - detailed information for dentistry learners will be shared by email by Dr. Bertha Garcia’s office shortly.

Finally, please continue to periodically check the Schulich Medicine & Dentistry homepage for updates as this remains an evolving situation. If you have any questions, please contact your program directly.

Thank you for your continued patience with this process and diligence in keeping our community safe,
