Award: Trainee wins top oral presentation from Clinician Investigator Trainee Association

Kara Ruicci, MD/PhD Class of 2022, won the Top Oral Presentation Award at the Clinician Investigator Trainee Association (CITAC) annual general meeting on November 13, 2020.

Ruicci shared her work studying drug resistance mechanisms in head and neck cancer. Her winning abstract was titled “TAM family receptors in conjunction with MAPK signalling are involved in acquired resistance to PI3Ka inhibition in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.” 

Under the supervision of Dr. Anthony Nichols, Ruicci is a trainee in the Departments of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery and Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

CITAC represents more than 200 members across Canada, addressing the collective needs of and providing a networking forum for clinical investigator trainees at various institutions.
